Besides the jetlag, it is important to note also that while the roads and especially hotel accommodations in Ukraine are constantly improving, they may not be up to the standards North American travelers expect: you may encounter problems with plumbing, bureaucratic service, road conditions, uneven surfaces, and availability and quality of public restrooms. You are traveling in some areas which have seen few Western travelers and the infrastructure is not yet fully developed.

While this program is designed to be the most comfortable possible, it is rated as rigorous touring because of the daily walking involved, the length of some bus rides and the overall shortcomings of the tourism infrastructure. This trip features a significant amount of touring on foot. Many streets are of cobblestone, and some attractions are only accessible via steep staircases with no elevators available.

Every effort has been made to make the information on this schedule accurate. However, trip itineraries are always subject to change. We will do our best to inform you in advance of any changes, but due to the nature of travel in Ukraine, this may not always be possible. Only those willing to accept these conditions should consider joining this tour.

We recommend that you read the U.S. State Department's Consular Information Sheet and travel warnings regarding travel to Ukraine. Check http://travel.state.gov  for up-to-date travel information.

To reap the full rewards of this adventure, travelers must be able to walk at least a mile or two per day, keeping up with fellow travelers. Flexibility, a sense of humor, and a willingness to accept local standards of amenities and services are essential components to the enjoyment of your trip.

Normally, it is warm and sunny in central Ukraine during May, however, being prepared for a little rain is a good idea. During the day the average temperature is 68 degrees and at night it drops down to 50. In Odessa, it is the start of the beach season and a great time to get some tan without getting burned.

As a group, we don't travel on Shabbat and Jewish holidays. All group meals during the trips will have an option of avoiding the prohibited by Jewish law meats or mixtures. However, with exception of a few places, no strictly kosher food is available.

At this time no visa is required for tourists to Ukraine from USA, Canada, Israel, or Western European countries. However, depending on where you travel from or through, you may require a visa from some countries, e.g. Russia.

Payment terms:  Non-refundable deposits and final land payments are accepted by check, Visa, MasterCard,  American Express, or Paypal. If a booking is made through a travel agent, please contact your agent to find out what form of payment they accept.

To participate in the trip, non-refundable deposit is due no later than March 15, with the balance due no later than April 15, 2018.  If the trip is canceled by organizers, all paid funds are refunded in full.

All rights are reserved by the Program Directors to make faculty substitutions and/or to modify the itinerary (including hotels) as needed.
